Whether a Grand Trine is common or not to an extent depends on the factors being used. If you are just using the traditional planets, the Sun through to Saturn, they are uncommon. If you throw in Uranus, Neptune and Pluto they are more common, especially during periods when these planets are themselves in trine. If you go further, and use Chiron, the Ascendant, the MC and assorted asteroids, then Grand Trines will be rather more frequent.
As to whether Grand Trines are fortunate, I am not convinced. I actually have one myself – involving Jupiter, Neptune and Venus. They can lack discipline, and can encourage people to go off on tangents.
Looking at transits, I don’t think that transiting trines are in themselves very significant. When I look at natal charts, I usually don’t pay a lot of attention to trines, and I hardly ever look at transiting trines. I don’t believe they work with any reliability!
Having said that, a transiting trine might be important in terms of midpoints. So if someone has the Sun at 5 degrees Cancer, Jupiter at 7 degrees Scorpio, then it might be significant if Uranus, for example, is at 6 degrees Pisces, because it will be exactly on the Sun-Jupiter midpoint.

I take the view that sign boundaries are absolute, and a planet at zero degrees one minute Sagittarius is completely and utterly in Sagittarius, and there is absolutely no Scorpio influence.
However from a sun-sign point of view it’s arguably a different story. By definition Mercury and Venus will be close to the Sun – Mercury, for example, will never be more than one sign away from the Sun. This means that a lot of Sagittarians will have either Mercury or Venus in Scorpio – or indeed both. Which means that a lot of Sagittarians will have something of the nature of Scorpio.

I have asked you a question sometime ago and your answer was really amazing. I will understand if you do not reply this time but I could not resist asking you.
If everything goes well, I will get a job which means moving abroad and starting a totally new life. I was very excited by the idea but most of all to finally have a job. However the closer it gets and the more dream becomes reality I start to have some doubts…. Is it just a fear of an unknown or is my intuition telling me something? I might also have an opportunity to work at the place where i am now but not sure if it will materialize so I would not like to miss the chance ….

First of all let me say I really love your website and check for updates regularly. While I don’t always agree with your views on American politics, I do respect them & enjoy reading about them. It is interesting to read a viewpoint from someone abroad.
My question relates to my career. I was born Nov. 22nd 1970 at 7:02am in Batavia, NY. I work for the New York State Prison system and I have an oral interview as part of a promotional exam on Nov. 9th, 2010 in Albany, NY at 2PM. How do you suppose I’ll do?

How can one control or channelize the fiery Mars energy? I am a Virgo with Virgo ascendant and have got Mars along with Mercury in my first house. My communication skills are fine (or so I think) but when I am being confronted by someone, instead of handling the situation peacefully and tactfully, I sometimes completely lose control of my temper. My angry outbursts were lot more serious when I was younger and I was told that it has to do with the placement of Mars in my chart. Although I am more watchful of my reactions now, thanks to the maturity that does come with age sometimes (!), I realized I am still prone to such negative outbursts. Why does Mars cause this and what would be a good remedy for it?

Thanks for your question. I set up a horoscope for the time I read and understood your question, and I see that you asked your question just after a Full Moon.
As far as I can see, what you have just been through was pretty major, perhaps even a parting of the waves. You saw the truth for what it was, and the differences between you and your partner became very clear. Furthermore, you yourself are on the cusp of a big change, that might have nothing to do with the relationship, but which nonetheless could impact on it.
So overall I take the view that it’s probably unlikely that you and your partner will get back together, at least in the immediate future. However once you have take on board the changes you’re going through, there may be another chance. In fact, right now you need time on your own, so as to take on board recent events.
Having said all that, I don’t want to create any self-fulfilling prophecies, and it’s always possible that I’ve got it wrong!

I’ve enjoyed your website and your wry sense of humour although I must confess I cannot understand anyone not liking music – how is it possible???? Good luck with whatever you choose to do. I guess you changing direction is better than waiting for the Universe to kick you up the b..t which has been my sad experience over time.
One last question if you have the time – this lunar eclipse will be conjunct my natal saturn at 26 deg Gemini in my 9th house. My Virgo sun in the 12th at 26 deg is square this presumably and Uranus in Pisces at 26 deg is opposing my sun is also involved presumably. Does this mean something will start to shift? Things have been very stagnant for me for quite a while or is it the usual hullabaloo about nothing?

After struggling but making it through the recession, business has suddenly gone to nearly zero once february has begun. If something doesn’t change, I lose it all. my DOB is 1/9/65, 1:43pm, ludhiana india.
