Donald Trump: Election loss and the Mars-Admetos midpoint

Trump speech in ColoradoWe’ve known that Donald Trump will lost the 2020 presidential election since the early spring, so it could be argued that there is no point in analyzing the situation any further. However, on November 3 and 4 there is some interesting stuff going on.  For example, here is a chart set for November 4 2020, at 1 am in Washington DC.  It is the moment that the polls close in Hawaii, the most westerly US state:

USA close of polls 2020.

Some might argue that I should take a different time, such as for the opening of polls, or that I should have moved the chart to Hawaii, but these details aren’t  important.  We’re trying to get a general picture.  The first thing that leaps at us is the Moon at 22 Gemini conjunct the North Node at 20 Gemini.  It is important because of Trump’s  chart:

Trump's chart with the hypotheticals.

As we can see, the Moon is exactly opposition his Natal Moon, at 21 Sagittarius, and conjunct his Sun, which is at 23 Gemini.  Furthermore, Trump has a North Node return – the Node returning to the place it was when he was born.  The North Node return is an indication of Karma manifesting.  Donald has to deal with the consequences of his actions, for better or for worse.  Though I should say that intrinsically there is nothing fortunate or unfortunate about the nodal return.

Also interesting is that on the  day of the election the planet Mercury goes stationary direct, at around 25 55 Libra.  Mercury is square Donald’s natal Venus, which in turn is ruler of his Midheaven.  There are clearly consequences for his leadership.

Another thing to note is the position of Jupiter and Saturn.  From a geocentric point of view they are five degrees apart, but heliocentrically they form an exact conjunction the day before the election, on November 2.  Symbolically this is a sign of a new era, when the rules and the culture will change.  It seems fitting that Donald will lose an election the day after the conjunction.

If you’re into the hypothetical planets of Uranian astrology, then one can’t help noticing that Jupiter at 21 31 Capricorn is exactly square Zeus at 21 31 Libra.  This represents a massive and violent liberation.  As Zeus often represents explosions and firearms, we perhaps have the image of half the American population letting off fireworks.  We might also see gun-toting militias trying to make their presence felt.  But I don’t want to exaggerate the issue.

There is also an midpoint configuration involving Mars, Uranus, and Admetos.  On election day Uranus at 8 32 Taurus is on the direct Mars-Admetos midpoint – Mars being at 15 52 Aries, Admetos at 2 09 Gemini.  Mars is the principle of action and aggression, while Admetos is about stagnation and decay.  We then have the image of sudden powerlessness.  Witte and Lefeldt, in their Rules for Planetary Pictures, described the configuration as “Sudden restriction in the field of work. Enemies made suddenly. To rip or tear something suddenly. Fragments and rags”. We can see this as a sudden transformation into utter powerlessness, the president of a powerful country turned into a ragged, lame duck.  The sudden enemies are obvious – rats leaving a sinking ship.

We now need to go back to Trump’s Moon.  On election night the Moon is opposition his natal Moon.  This means he has a demi-lunar return close to the time polls close.  We can then calculate the precise time that the transitting Moon is opposition the natal Moon, and draw up a chart – the demi-lunar return.  I like to set return charts to the place of birth, rather than the location of the client at the moment of the return.  This is the chart I get, set for Jamaica, New York:

Trump November 3 Demi-lunar.

The striking feature of this chart is the fact that Uranus is exactly on the Midheaven.  This indicates a dramatic and unexpected event.  Or a sudden change in someone’s position.  I think this is likely, given the fact that Uranus is on the Mars-Ademetos midpoint.  We also have a trigger.  Over the period of the election this midpoint is empowered by Uranus, but at the moment of Trump’s demi-lunar return the Midheaven hits it as well.  Suddenly Donald’s world become much smaller.  It’s no longer about global leadership, but about the trivialities of his daily existence – tax, debt and the treat of tedious lawsuits.

We then move to his solar arc directions – the technique where every planet in the horoscope is moved by approximately one degree a year.  On November 3 2020 Donald’s solar arc directed Mars is at 7 57 Scorpio.  If we convert this to the 45 degree dial, where 0 degrees Aries is the same as 15 Taurus is the same as 0 degrees Cancer, we get 37 57.  This is the relevant section of his natal 45 degree dial:

Donald's 45 degree dial (section).

For a start we can see that solar arc directed Mars is exactly on his Sun.  To be precise, it is making a sesquiquadrate aspect.  Yet amazingly, it is also exactly on Donald’s natal Mars-Admetos midpoint, reminding us that natally he has the Sun exactly on this midpoint.  Witte and Lefeldt wrote of this configuration “The man who works with loss, who narrows, reduces his field of work”.  From a business perspective, we know that Trump has had a few bankrupticies, and because of past losses, he pays hardly any federal tax.  So saying that he works with loss seems very true.  The directed Mars, on November 3, creates a situation of anger and powerlessness, the man who is losing an election and can’t do anything about it.

I recall one Uranian astrologer referring to Admetos as a proverbial “brick wall”. Sounds a lot tougher than Saturn in not yielding. This configuration in Trump’s chart makes me wonder if this could auger issues around his health?

Yes, I think Admetos is pretty malefic. Maybe it takes some of the negative aspects of Saturn, while Kronos takes the positive. I wasn’t really thinking in terms of health, but the Sun is the heart, and having Sun on the Mars-Admetos midpoint may be about blockages, or something like that. Wittle and Lefeldt used the word “throttle”. Also, the Admetos myth is about trying to gain more time, to stay alive beyond your alotted time. In terms of the election, Donald may be trying to gain more time, in the face of the inevitable. The Moon semisquares Uranus at 4 am EST on November 4, and this may be the moment when it becomes clear to Donald that he has lost.

What are your thoughts on the Curse of Tippecanoe I know it’s not been consistent lately. But 2020 must be contender?

I would have thought it came to an end with Ronald Reagan, and the survival of George Bush Junior confirmed it. This time round I suppose we have two men in their 70s competing, so death from old age and its complications becomes an increasing possibility. With 78 year old Joe Biden in the White House, the odds certainly go up of the President dying in office.

    When does Kamala take over?

    • Archie Dunlop November 7, 2020, 7:55 pm

      Take over from Biden?

Yes, or do you think he’ll complete a full term?
