Modern astrologers tend to be liberal-minded people, and I doubt that very many supported Trump in 2016. For myself, I am not an American citizen, but in 2016 I considered who I would have voted for. I took the view that in terms of world peace Trump would be a better candidate, Hillary having managed to trash the Middle East during her disastrous tenure as Secretary of State. However I would have voted for her, because it was quite clear that Donald was going to be horrible, horrible for the environment and health care. So looking forward to 2020, I really hope that a Democrat makes it to the White House.
On the face of it, things aren’t looking good for Donald. From the perspective of Vedic astrology, he entered his 16-year Jupiter dasa in 2016, days after his election. Jupiter in his Vedic chart is not in a bad condition, and the change from one dasa to another might simply reflect a change of status. If the dasa-change had happened just before the election, I think it would have indicated that he would have lost, in the same way that Margaret Thatcher started her Jupiter dasa just before she was ousted as Prime Minister in 1990.
It is often said that a dasa doesn’t really start until the second sub-period. To understand this, one has to remember that each dasa is divided into nine of these sub-periods. The first sub-period is ruled by the dasa-ruler, which is of course Jupiter. The second sub-period is ruled by Saturn, and in Donald’s case it lasts from January 3 2019 through to July 16 2021. In other words, it’s the sub-period that includes the November 2020 Presidential Election. Donald’s Saturn is bad. Using Shad Bala, it is the weakest planet in the horoscope. Not only that, but it is placed in the 12th House of self-undoing, and it rules the 7th house of open enemies. Matters are made worse in early 2020 when transiting Saturn enters sidereal Capricorn, the sign opposite his natal Saturn.
One also needs to bear in mind that Jupiter and Saturn are a pair, and when they rule the main dasa and the sub-dasa dramatic events can unfold. I am guessing that from early 2019 things are going to get rough for Donald, and information from the past will come to the surface. Also, the US economy and stock market are likely to hit turbulence as we move towards late 2020. A perfect storm, and Donald’s going to lose, right?
Well, I would never make an absolute prediction on the basis of a natal chart. I prefer to use a horary chart, cast for the moment I ask a question. The question I asked was “Will Trump be US President on February 1 2021?” (see above). This questions covers a number of reasons why he might not have a second term – he could lose, quit, or die, for example. Other astrologers have their own rules for judging such charts, and I could be accused of over-simplifying the matter. But I do what I do.
I took the Ascendant in early Libra as me, and the person I want to win the 2020 election. The Seventh House is Trump and his supporters. The Moon represents Trump, as ruler of the 10th House of Presidents and Heads of State. It also represents the American people – who according to the chart, are in Trump’s pocket, at least when it comes to the calculus of the Electoral College.
The Moon’s previous aspect was a square with Saturn. Saturn represents past problems, and also the Democrat Party – traditionally Jupiter represents the Republicans, Saturn the Democrats. Saturn is well-placed in Capricorn, but is retrograde. This might suggest that the Democrats are inflexible, and are still blaming the Russians for their 2016 defeat, rather than their Hollywood rainbow coalitions and their refusal to connect with working class voters in the purple states of the North East. The Moon’s next aspect is a trine with the Sun in Leo, which represents Trump’s victory in the November 2020 election.
I understand that it could be argued that Mars rules the Seventh, and Mars is not in particularly good condition – retrograde and conjunct the South Node, albeit in mixed reception with Saturn. However the Sun in Leo has a connection with Aries, through exaltation and triplicity. In fact, one could argue that the Sun is Donald, and the Moon, as ruler of the 10th House, is the second term. Another sign of his 2020 victory.
Overall, the next few years are going to be bad for Donald Trump, and probably for America as well. Yet somehow he’ll manage to win in November 2020. Presumably the Democrats will screw up, and offer America more of what they offered in 2016. An offer which will be impolitely refused.
