Piers Morgan is a former tabloid journalist, whose editorships included The News of the World and The Daily Mirror. He currently hosts a show for CNN.
Right now Piers Morgan is under sustained attack. It has been alleged that during his editorship of The Daily Mirror he was responsible for the ‘hacking’ of people’s phones. In other words he, or those under him or hired by him, would access the voice mail accounts of celebrities. Another accusation is that they would get access to private information by pretending to be someone they were not.
This story isn’t just about Piers Morgan. It’s about Trinity Mirror, the company that own The Daily Mirror. So far they have profited enormously from the collapse of The News of the World, whose reputation was destroyed after it was revealed that they had hacked into the voice mail of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler in 2002. Indeed Milly Dowler’s messages were deleted, after she went missing, giving false hope to her parents that she might still be alive.
Trinity Mirror have a lot of enemies, especially on the right – The Daily Mirror’s editorial line is left of centre, and the rightwing blogosphere has been desperate to tar them with the same brush that sunk The News of the World. While Trinity Mirror’s share price has been hammered by the innuendo, and may continue to fall, from an astrological point of view it strikes me as being very unlikely that the company’s actual business will be materially affected, even if it’s found that their journalists were hacking into the telephones of celebrities. But that’s another story – in this article I want to talk about Piers Morgan.
In astrology seven years is a very important period – it’s the approximate time for the planet Saturn to complete quarter of its twenty-nine and a half year cycle.
Just over seven years ago, on May 14 2004, Piers Morgan was sacked as editor of The Daily Mirror, for publishing faked pictures of British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners. At the time Saturn was at ten degrees Cancer. Now, on August 1 2011, Saturn is three signs on, at 12 degrees Libra. In other words it has moved just over 93 degrees, which is close to quarter of the circle. So Piers Morgan had a crisis in his career in 2004, and he’s now facing another one, seven years later. It’s possible, for example, that CNN decide that their new signing is too hot too handle, and remove him from his position.
As for Piers Morgan’s horoscope, he was born on March 30 1965. I don’t have a time of birth, which limits what I can say, but his Sun is at around 9 degrees Aries. So when he was sacked from The Daily Mirror the planet Saturn was making a 90-degree aspect to his Sun, and right now, with the hacking scandal at a peak, it’s just past an 180-degree aspect.
Looking at Piers Morgan’s Hindu horoscope, he has the Moon in Aquarius opposition Mars in Leo. This tells me that he is someone with powerful enemies, and I suspect that to a great extent this is what his current problems are all about. Very few people really care whether or not the phones of celebrities were hacked, but they do care about bringing down Piers Morgan, and if in the process they can damage Trinity Mirror, his former employer, then so much the better.
There is also the question of Piers Morgan’s Mercury. Even though I don’t know his birth time, I do know that right now he is going through a period of life that is ruled by Mercury.
In his Hindu horoscope Mercury is almost certainly his weakest planet. It’s also the planet of communication.
While it’s true that in the past Piers Morgan has benefited enormously from his communication skills, Saturn is currently making a stressful aspect to Mercury, and this lasts until November of this year. His words could come back to haunt him, and we’ve recently seen his enemies and detractors using quotations from his writings, as well as a radio interview, to support their case that he was involved in phone hacking.
Under these circumstances, I would suggest to Piers Morgan that between now and November he is very careful what he says, writes and tweets, because his future might rest on it.
However if he can survive until November – and some might say that’s a big if – he’ll be over the worst, and his career can resume its upward trajectory.
