On Wednesday September 8 Venus moves from Libra to Scorpio. It stays in Scorpio, on and off, until January 6 of next year.
I say ‘on and off’ because from November 8 through to November 30 Venus makes a brief return to Libra. It’s because of retrograde motion, but I won’t bore you with the details.
Some astrologers will wax lyrical about how wonderful it is that Venus, the planet of love, is moving through Scorpio. Emotional, passionate and sexy, it’s just the thing to add spice to your love life. Not to mention mystery and spirituality.
The reality is probably different. Scorpio is one of the worst signs for Venus to be in – in the jargon, Scorpio is the sign of Venus’ detriment. People with Venus in Scorpio have powerful feelings, but they sometimes find it difficult to express these feeling in a constructive way. Charles Manson has Venus in Scorpio, if you’re interested.
Venus is the planet of beauty, so while Venus is moving through Scorpio activities connected with fashion, harmony and decoration should be avoided. So if you’re planning on buying expensive new clothes, you should make your purchases between November 8 and November 30, when Venus moves back into Libra. If not, wait until next year. The same can be said for cosmetic surgery, because in my opinion the chances of a perfect outcome are less than usual.
Venus is also the ruler of money. While Venus is moving through Scorpio money could be the cause of major aggravation. And even if everything’s calm on the surface, beneath the waters lies a jealous and grasping monster.
As far as the stock market is concerned, Venus’ entry into Scorpio is sometimes associated with stock markets falls. I discuss the Autumn prospects for the stock market in the following article:

However I am not suggesting that anyone panics because of Venus’ entry into Scorpio. Venus passes through Scorpio every year, and usually we come through the other side, unscathed.
