Astrologically this week is heavy. On Monday Saturn made a stressful, 180-degree aspect to Uranus, and on Friday and Saturday Mars conjuncts Saturn and makes an opposition to Uranus. As I said in a recent article, we have to watch out for accidents and disasters.
Today the news came through that a plane had crashed in Pakistan, killing 152 people. This in itself doesn’t prove that astrology works. Plane crashes are relatively frequent events, and in any week there’s a good chance that somewhere in the world such a disaster will happen.
However if you look at the horoscope of the accident, it clearly shows the signature of this Mars-Saturn-Uranus line-up.
I set the horoscope for 9.43 am on June 28, which was when ground control lost contact with the flight. The horoscope has the following key positions:
Ascendant: 29 degrees 37 minutes Virgo
Midheaven: 29 degrees 35 minutes Gemini
Mars: 28 degrees 55 minutes Virgo
Saturn: 0 degrees 33 minutes Libra
Uranus: 0 degrees 24 minutes Aries
This means that the applying Mars-Saturn conjunction, which was around one and a half arc minutes apart, was exactly on the eastern horizon at the time of the crash, while Uranus was exactly on the western horizon.
In astrology planets are very strong when they’re on the horizon, so the flight was feeling the full force of the Mars-Saturn-Uranus line-up. It would have been a window of vulnerability that was brief, because the Ascendant moves quickly, on average one degree every four minutes. So the period of vulnerability would have been no more than ten minutes either side of 9.43 am.
Which brings us to the question of preventability. This whole week is dangerous, and all of us need to be careful – and to be extra safe, unnecessary flights should be avoided. However thousands of flights are taking place this week, and no doubt all but one or two will reach their destinations safe and sound. Nonetheless, if at any time during a planned flight the Mars-Saturn conjunction is rising, then it might be a good idea to find a safer time to fly. Or am I just being paranoid?
