Archie looks at Uranus going retrograde, a total eclipse of the Sun, as well as the horoscope of Brazilian footballer Felipe Melo.
This week the World Cup rumbles to its conclusion, with the final match being on Sunday July 11. I suspect that it’s going to be an interesting match, because very soon after the second half gets going, there’s a total eclipse of the Sun.
But before I talk about next week, and I want to discuss the horoscope of footballer Felipe Melo.
His team Brazil were leading against Holland, in their World Cup quarter-final match, when he got a touch on the ball that then went into his own net. In the first instance it was counted as an own goal, thought later it was credited to Dutch player Wesley Sneijder. Later in the game the Dutch took the lead, and then Melo got a red card, and was therefore sent off, for a stamping incident. Down to ten men, Brazil were unable to catch up, and they lost the game.
This raises the question as to whether Felipe Melo should have been selected for the Brazil team. He is a Cancerian, born on June 26 1983. I haven’t got his time of birth, but I can’t help noticing that he has a stressful aspect between Mars and Neptune, Mars being at the end of Gemini, Neptune at the end of Sagittarius. This aspect creates the possibility of energy going in the wrong direction, and in June 2010, just as the World Cup was starting, Saturn was on the Mars-Neptune midpoint, before going on to make a 90-degree aspect to his Mars.
The match with Holland happened after Saturn’s aspect was exact, but it was still pretty close. Saturn’s transit could have made Melo frustrated, and at the very least have contributed to the red card.
Furthermore, the Saturn aspect is more about failure than success, and its influence would have extended right through the competition. Under these circumstances, it was probably inadvisable to include him in the Brazil squad.
I’ll leave the final world to Reinhold Ebertin, who wrote the following about Saturn on the Mars-Neptune midpoint:
Instability, feelings of inferority, misdirected energy. – Unfortunate consequences as a result of a weak will…
Returning to the week ahead, and on Monday the planet Uranus starts going retrograde – in other words it starts going backwards, from the Earth’s point of view. I’m not sure if this is immediately significant, but one has to remember that Uranus is now returning to zero degrees Aries – it reaches this point on August 13 or 14. Uranus is about instability, and whatever we’re doing, we should be ready for some big upsets.
Yet the week’s really big event is the total eclipse of the Sun, which happens on Sunday, or Monday of next week if you’re in Australia, New Zealand, or parts of Asia. The exact time is 8.40 pm in London, on Sunday July 11, or 3.40 pm in New York, or 9.40 pm in Johannesburg.
As total eclipses go, it’s probably not major. The vast majority of us won’t see the Sun darken – you’d have to be in a specific sector of the South Pacific for that to happen. And in terms of global impact, I’m not convinced that it’s going to be major.
Though if it does have any effect, it could make us more aware of our home and family, and also out country. So perhaps, over the next few weeks, some of us will become more patriotic.
Nonetheless I can’t help thinking that it’s significant that the eclipse takes place right in the middle of the final match of the World Cup match, approximately in the 58th minute of play. Somehow this match will be memorable, but will it be for the right reasons?

Archie, your article on Capello’s chart and the world cup was spot on!
You are Great Archie Dunlop !!!
Thanks about Selecting People for a Job e mail it was Great and True Astrology must be used in many areas as You Said!!!
Blessings !!!!
Angela,
Well, it seemed to me quite clear that England didn’t have a chance of winning the World Cup. Although their defeat against Germany was fated, I think Capello was right about the disallowed goal being crucial. It it had have been allowed, anything could have happened, But it just wasn’t England’s day!
Jorge,
Thanks for enthusiasm, and I’m glad you liked this week’s newsletter. Unfortunately I can’t see a time when astrology is routinely used for personnel selection.
