As protestants regard the Bible as being the final word, in America the Constitution has an almost religious status. The Protestant - even Calvinist roots - are further shown by the fact that freedom is selective. You're not free to visit any online gambling site you care to choose, at least if it's abroad. Also, you're not free to grow and use cannabis, and other drugs. You've also got the alchohol issue - the US did at one stage try to prohibit it! Jean,

I have never owned a gun, or seen a neighbor with one, but we are fond of the freedom to do so. I know bad things can happen, but its the freedom of choice that interests me.
