Is America ready for another Gemini President?

by Archie Dunlop on May 27, 2010

America has fond memories of its last but one Gemini president, John F Kennedy – in spite of the fact that he was a serial womaniser who played a large role in escalating the Vietnam War.  I suppose his assassination gave him a measure of immortality.

John F Kennedy really was a typical Gemini, not least because he was a famously fast talker.  I was reminded of this when reading in The Guardian newspaper about Bobby Jindal, the Governor of Louisiana, who is being pushed into the limelight following the BP oil spill.

As Richard Adams,  The Guardian reporter, wrote:

Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, holds a press conference but because of his habit of speaking at such a rapid pace that youcanbarelyunderstandhim it’s hard to tell what he wants, other than more resources, or as Bobby calls it, “moreresources”, or even “moresources”.

If you’re not familiar with Bobby Jindal, he is being touted by some as a Republican presidential candidate for the 2012 elections.  He is of Indian origin, but converted from Hinduism to Christianity.  Like Sarah Palin he’s a conservative pro-lifer, unlike Sarah Palin he’s got a reputation for being highly intelligent, and he was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University.

As far as the astrology is concerned, Bobby Jindal was born on June 10 1971, making him a Gemini.  Geminis tend to live through their head rather than their heart, and in terms of politics this can be a disadvantage.  They can seem too rational, and unable to connect with popular sentiment.  To an extent this was the case with the last Gemini president, George Bush Senior.

There are other indications that Bobby Jindal might be dry and calculating.  He has the Moon in Capricorn.  People with the Moon in Capricorn often have a clear sense of self-interest, and they know what needs to be done to further their cause – for example adopting populist polices on law and order.  Also, he has a conjunction between Venus and Saturn.  He understands that relationships have their purpose, though at times this conjunction might make it difficult for him to connect with ordinary people.

Having said that, on a religious level he is a long way from being logical.  His Christianity would appear to be pretty extreme, and he has apparently claimed to have had battles with Satan.  I suppose converts to a religion are often the most fanatical.

As to whether Bobby Jindal has got what it takes to be a presidential candidate, let alone win the presidency, my immediate inclination is to say that he hasn’t – though so far I haven’t gone into the matter in great detail.

Nonetheless there are a couple of factors in his horoscope which need to be taken very seriously.  He was born with an exact opposition between Jupiter and Saturn.  These planets oppose each other every twenty years, and in 2010 and 2011, approximately forty years after his birth, the cycle is repeating.  So right now, Bobby Jindal is very much in tune with what’s going on in America.

Furthermore, Bobby Jindal has a conjunction between Jupiter and Neptune.  The symbolism of Jupiter and Neptune can manifest in many ways.  Yesterday I talked about Marc Emery, the campaigner for the legalisation of cannabis, who has this conjunction.  Jupiter is the planet of expansion, Neptune is the planet of drugs, so the symbolism is clear.  On a different note, the conjunction can be about religious belief, and the desire to surrender to some high, spiritual power.

However Neptune is also the planet of oil, and someone with a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction can benefit from oil in a big way – and that includes the spilling of it.

Given his Jupiter-Neptune conjunction, I believe that Bobby Jindal can really benefit from the BP situation, and by making a big noise about what the spill has done to his and other states, he can catapult himself onto the national arena.  And in the process he can give himself a very real chance of being the Republican candidate in the 2012 presidential elections, if that’s what he wants.

Yet if Barack Obama decides he wants to stand for a second term Bobby Jindal hasn’t got a chance of beating him.  But that’s another story.

I like Jindal! Finally, Louisiana has non corrupt governor with executive ability. He has disavowed any interest in the Presidency, but we will see. Christie in New Jersey is another star.

I think Palin would have done a better job managing the oil spill than Obama. People forget she was an effective executive in Alaska, with the highest approval rating of any governor. Sometimes cerebral does not get the job done.

Jean,

Probably something like the oil spill is above Obama’s pay grade, and of course intelligence on its own isn’t a qualification for political office.

I don’t know a lot about Jindal, but it’s difficult to categorise him. One normally associates people with extreme religious views with narrow-minded parochialism, but he doesn’t fit – coming from an immigrant family, and his education at Brown, Oxford and Yale.

When he ran for governor the Democrats tried to tar him with the ‘religious nutter’ brush, but obviously that didn’t work. However stories of his battles with Satan might be more damaging if he was going for the Presidency.

Though the oil spill does seem to give him a major opportunity.
