I’ve spent weeks discussing British politics, and it’s now time to redress the balance, and focus on a very American story.
Richard Blumenthal is Connecticut’s Attorney General, and he is running for the US Senate, on a Democrat ticket. Until recently he was well ahead in the polls, but his campaign is now in serious trouble. All because of Vietnam.
It seems Richard Blumenthal had publicly claimed that he had served in Vietnam, but it now turns out that this wasn’t the case. He apparently used his connections to defer going to Vietnam, on at least five different occasions.
Matters are made worse by the fact that in two of his profiles it was claimed that he was captain of the Harvard swimming team, which simply wasn’t true. He wasn’t even a team member.
Richard Blumenthal was born on February 13 1946, which makes him an Aquarian. However it’s not his star sign that’s caused him problems, it was his Mercury.
In astrology Mercury is the planet of communication, and Richard Blumenthals’ Mercury is in Aquarius, making a close conjunction to the Sun. When planets get too close to the Sun they’re weakened – or, almost literally, ‘burnt’. The Sun represents Richard Blumenthal’s ego, and in certain circumstances it can damage his message.
Also, his Mercury is making an easy-going, 120-degree aspect to Jupiter. Jupiter is the planet of exaggeration, and it can be all too easy for Richard Blumenthal to pump up his achievements.
As far as the timing is concerned, Richard Blumenthal made his Vietnam claim – ‘I served in Vietnam’ - in March 2008. Neptune, the planet of confusion, was slowly moving towards his Sun-Mercury conjunction, and now, over two years later, he’s been caught out in a big way.
