If you’ve been following film director Roman Polanski’s story, you’ll know that he is currently under house arrest in Switzerland. The US authorities want to extradite him, for a sex crime he committed over thirty years ago. To be more specific, in 1977 he pleaded guilty in a Californian court to having sex with a thirteen year old girl, but before sentence was passed, he fled to Europe.
The story has taken another turn, as an English actress, now in her forties, has claimed that Roman Polanski sexually abused her when she was sixteen years old. Her name is Charlotte Lewis, and she’s a Leo.
In spite of the 1977 incident, Roman Polanski remains for many an iconic figure, as well as a brilliant film director. Indeed in 2002 he won an Oscar for his film The Pianist, though for obvious legal reasons he wasn’t able to turn up in person to collect it. The public perhaps has extra sympathy for him because of the murder in 1969, by the Charles Manson gang, of his wife Sharon Tate and their unborn child. Furthermore, Roman Polanski, who came from a Jewish family, went through the holocaust, and his pregnant mother was gassed at Auschwitz.
Roman Polanski was born on August 18, 1933, making him a Leo. If you want to be a film director, this is probably a good star sign to have – other Leo film directors include Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Cecil B De Mille and John Huston. Leos have confidence and charisma, and they can inspire the people that they’re working with. Furthermore, they know how to put their inner vision into outer practice.
Taking a deeper look at Roman Polanski’s horoscope, and we notice that he has the Moon in Cancer on the Midheaven. This is a great position for the Moon. It allows him to be successful in his career, and he has a natural understanding of what cinema audiences want.
However the Moon also represents the feminine, as well as the mother. And in Roman Polanski’s chart the Moon is conjunct Pluto, and is also making 90-degree aspects to Mars and Uranus.
Pluto is an influence that’s very intense and very heavy, while Mars and Uranus are a pairing that’s often connected with violence. So two of the most important women in Roman Polanski’s life were murdered, while pregnant.
The Moon, being on the Midheaven, is right in the public view. So some of the traumas that Roman Polanski has been through, in particular the killing of his wife, can be discussed and analysed by everyone. Then we see the feminine in its other role, as being the source of his legal difficulties in America.
It’s also worth noting that he has a close conjunction between Venus and Jupiter, in Virgo. Venus is another female planet, which is specifically associated with girls and young women. Jupiter is the planet of excess, a planet that sometimes doesn’t know when to stop, that crosses boundaries it shouldn’t.
This Venus-Jupiter conjunction takes place in the Twelfth House, a part of the horoscope which is often unfortunate, which is sometimes described as ‘the House of self-undoing’. In other words Roman Polanski’s relations with a thirteen year old girl could so easily have destroyed his career.
