The highlight of the week is surely an opposition aspect between Jupiter and Saturn, which takes place at 6.36 am London time on Sunday May 23. Which is 1.36 am in New York.
It’s easy to get fixated on this precise moment, but really, the Jupiter-Saturn opposition describes the times we’re living in, and to all intents and purposes this aspect is already operational.
The opposition aspect can best be conceptualised as an almighty battle between the pessimists and the optimists. To illustrate with a real-life example, in Britain we have a new government. It’s a coalition between the Conservative Party and the Liberal Democrats. Some people see it as a new beginning, where politics can be about agreement rather than conflict. Other people see the government as a recipe for disaster, which sooner or later will disintegrate.
We have this conflict all over the world. The Euro is a strong currency, which will survive; the Euro is on its last legs. The stock market will recover; the stock market will crash.
I believe that in the short-term, at least until late July, the optimists will win out, though longer term, Saturn will get stronger and stronger, and the world will get a heavy dose of Saturnine reality.
Getting back to this week, and the planet Uranus is trundling through the last degree of Pisces, getting ready for its movement into Aries. As Uranus moves through this part of the Zodiac, I would have expected a certain amount of instability.
This instability is intensified by Uranus’ proximity to the fixed star Scheat. It was exactly on Scheat last week, but this week the world might still be feelings it effects. Scheat is associated with flooding, and maritime disasters, so activities connected with sea transport should probably be avoided.
Getting down to specifics, during the first half of the week the Sun is making favourable aspects to both Jupiter and Saturn. As a result, people are going to be very constructive, and they’ll be trying to address themselves to the world and its problems. We get the image of politicians trying their best to stabilise the national and global situation – and in the process having a measure of success.
For our part, we can address ourselves to our own problems, and if we’re prepared to put in the work, we can make our lives more secure and more productive.
Moving on to the weekend, and as I’ve said, the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is upon us. Many of use could be very tense, not just because of the conjunction, but also because the Moon in Virgo is making a run of heavy aspects. Here’s a time timetable, if you’re interested:
Moon opposition Jupiter Saturday 7.09 pm New York, Sunday, 0.09 am London
Moon conjunction Saturn Saturday 7.14 pm New York, Sunday, 0.14 am London
Moon opposition Uranus Saturday 10.34 pm New York, Sunday, 3.34 am London
Keep your cool and have a great week!
