Astrological forecast: Monday April 26 to Sunday May 2

by Archie Dunlop on April 25, 2010

A lot of astrologers are predicting doom and gloom.  Not to mention earthquakes and stock market crashes.  It’s because of a stressful, 180-degree aspect between Saturn and Uranus, which takes place on Tuesday, at 0.23 am London time.  In New York that’s 7.23 pm on Monday evening.  Matters aren’t helped by the fact that Monday is the twenty-fourth anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, which took place on April 26 1986.

I would agree that this Saturn-Uranus aspect is not good news.  It’s going to make all of us feel very tense, especially at the beginning of the week.  And in terms of global events, there’s an increased chance of accidents and disasters.

The situation is aggravated by the position of the Moon.  There is a part of the sky known as the ‘via combusta’, or ‘flaming path’, between fifteen degrees Libra and fifteen degrees Scorpio.  When the Moon passes through this zone there can be unfortunate and unexpected events.

The Moon enters the via combusta on Monday, at 10.15 pm London time, which is 5.15 pm in New York.  It leaves the via combusta on Thursday, at 1.13 am in London, which is 8.13 pm the previous day in New York.

These few days really could be difficult, especially as there is a rather nasty Full Moon on Wednesday.  All this, combined with the effects of the Saturn-Uranus aspect, could create a lot of problems.  All of us need to be very careful, and we should avoid taking risks.

Still, I don’t believe that we’re seeing the beginnings of a substantial correction in the stock markets, as I explained in a previous article.

From Thursday morning onwards, things should slowly start getting better, and we can perhaps afford to be more adventurous.

Some of these adventures might have a pagan nature, if you’re that way inclined.  In the pagan calendar April 30 (Friday) and May 1 (Saturday) are important days.  After all, Halloween was exactly six months ago.

One of the reasons why this time of year is important is that roughly speaking it is half way between the Spring Equinox, around March 21, and the Summer Solstice, around June 21.  Though the exact half-way date should be celebrated a bit later, around May 5.

In Germany Friday night is Walpurgisnacht, or May Day Eve, when traditionally witches have their annual meeting, high in the Harz mountains.

May Day itself is the festival of Beltane, when in the Northern Hemisphre the arrival of Summer is celebrated.  An integral part of the Beltane celebrations is the lighting of fires, to welcome in the new season.
