Last week I mentioned that Saturn had moved from Libra to Virgo. I suggested that this was a time of sadness – not for ourselves but for the rest of humanity. I probably underestimated its effect, in the light of the deaths of the West Virginia miners and the Polish President.
Saturn is now moving away from the zero Libra point, but we might still be feeling its influence, especially at the beginning of the week. A sense of sadness and loss, for people we don’t know.
On a different note, we have to be very sober this week. Uranus and Neptune are thirty degrees apart, and this creates the possibility of sudden, psychological happenings. One moment we’re conscious, the next we’re on Cloud Nine. The results could be disastrous!
On April 14 there’s a New Moon. For most of us, this should be good news. It’s a New Moon that’s very dynamic, and if we want to take a dramatic initiative then now might be our chance. We’ll catch the opposition off guard, and victory could be close at hand.
However it’s important that we’re not complacent. The planet Mercury is slowing down, and over the weekend it starts going backwards, This means that communications are very soon going to go up the creek – especially if we’re a Gemini or a Virgo. So if we’ve got something to say, we’d better hurry up about it.
Nonetheless it should be a good weekend. Venus makes a favourable aspect to Jupiter, and as a result we’ll be luckier than average. And because Venus is the planet of love, there’s the possibility of romance.
While I’ve got your attention, I’d like to mention the plight of Ali Hussain Sabat. He is a Lebanese national, who worked as a fortune-teller – he appeared on a TV show in Lebanon.
While visiting Saudi Arabia, on a pilgrimage, he was arrested by the religious police, charged with sorcery and sentenced to death. There is a very real possibility that he’ll be executed.
You can read the Amnesty International press release.
Given the case of Ali Hussain Sabat, it could be argued that any astrologer who visits Saudi Arabia is at risk of arrest and execution, even if they leave their books and astrology programs at home. Though I suppose it’s particularly bad if you’re a Muslim and your predictions are accessible in Saudi Arabia, whether through the TV or the internet.
I’m not sure if there’s anything we can do to help Ali Hussain Sabat, though you might want to write to the Saudi ambassador in your country. Though would this be counter-productive? I don’t know.
You might find this link useful, which is a thread on Deborah Houlding’s skyscript.co.uk astrology website, where the subject is discussed in detail, and some mailing addresses are given.
