An Aries claims responsibility for the Moscow subway bombings

by Archie Dunlop on March 31, 2010

When news came through about the Moscow subway bombings, which killed nearly forty people, it seemed likely that Chechen separatists were involved.  After all, Russia has been fighting a prolonged war in Chechnya, against Islamic insurgents with a predilection for terrorist attacks.

And now someone has claimed responsibility.  Dokka Umarov, the self-styled ‘Emir of the Caucasus’, has claimed that he ordered the bombings, in retaliation for an incident in February, in which a number of Chechens were killed.

Dokka Umarov was born on April 13 1964, which makes him an Aries.  The sign Aries can be very impulsive.  So when trouble started brewing in Chechnya, his immediate response was to get involved – it was his ‘patriotic’ duty.  Also, Aries is the Greek god of war, and many people with the Sun in Aries enjoy fighting.

In fact, Dokka Umarov has got Mars in Aries as well.  This is important.  The Sun and Mars both have a natural affinity with this sign, and he is therefore a strong and charismatic person, who is not to be underestimated.

Yet I wouldn’t say that Aries, on its own, has any great inclination to be a terrorist.  It’s not a sign that’s particularly brooding or vengeful.

However Dokka Umarov has both Mercury and Jupiter in Taurus.  And probably the Moon as well. Taurus is a sign that’s very stubborn, and it can also bear grudges.  This is why many terrorists had or have their Sun in Taurus – for example Guy Fawkes, Andreas Baader and Timothy McVeigh.

Although the Aries-Taurus mix can explain a lot, I can’t help noticing that Dokka Umarov has an opposition between Saturn and Uranus in his horoscope.

The planets Saturn and Uranus are slow-moving, and a lot of people born in the mid-1960s share this configuration.  These people are probably very sensitive to the Saturn-Uranus cycle, and now, in 2010, Saturn and Uranus are again forming an opposition.

Dokka Umarov is feeling the pressure.  At some level he knows that something has to happen, quickly.  Otherwise the battle will be as good as lost.

Looking at his Hindu horoscope, I notice that he has ‘kalasarpa yoga’.  I don’t want to get into details, but he was born ‘at the time of the snake’, and this means that he has a fated life.  There are things going on that he has no control over, and arguably his fate is to respond rather than act.

As far as what’s going to happen next, I don’t have Dokka Umarov’s time of birth.  It’s possible, though, that he is going through a fortunate period of his life, where he might be very difficult to beat.  On the other hand, Saturn is moving towards an opposition of his Sun-Mars midpoint, and in 2011 his violent Emirate could come to a violent end.
