It’s getting a bit silly, isn’t it? Terrorists used to be scary people with their bases in Afghanistan or Pakistan, striking terror into their enemies with their suicidal fanaticism. However as support for Al-Qaeda and its hangers-on has fallen, the unlikely figure of Jihad Jane has emerged from the post-modern humdrum of Middle America.
Jihad Jane, also known as Fatima LaRose and Colleen LaRose, was arrested last year, and has been accused of trying to recruit terrorists, as well as being involved in a plot to assassinate a Swedish cartoonist.
Jihad Jane, as she is now commonly known, was brought up in Texas and tried to commit suicide in 2005. According to The Times, in 2008 she put a video on YouTube, under the name JihadJane, in which she said that she was ‘desperate to do something somehow to help’ Muslims.
As far as the astrology is concerned, the only date I’ve seen for her birth is June 5 1963. I checked the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator, and it doesn’t say much – except that she is forty-six years old and is being held at the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center. However for the moment I’ll go with June 5 1963. She’s not one of my clients, and it’s not the end of the world if it turns out that the date’s wrong.
We can therefore tentatively say that Jihad Jane is a Gemini. In my experience, Geminis like to play around with ideas, believing one thing one day, another thing the next.
Right now Jihad Jane might be very sure that she’s a Muslim, but the Gemini brain is always thinking, analysing and doubting. There’s a good chance that in a few years time her belief system will be very different than what it is now.
Looking further at her horoscope, I notice that she’s got a conjunction between Mars and Uranus. Mars is the planet of violence, while Uranus is often connected with guns and explosives. So ideas about shooting people, or blowing them up, might really inspire her. Put another way, a Mars-Uranus conjunction is a perfect signature for a wannabe terrorist.
From a psychological point of view, it’s worth noting that Jihad Jane probably has the Moon in Scorpio, making an opposition aspect to both Mercury and Venus. We get the image of someone with powerful, entrenched feelings, trying desperately to express herself – but she has enormous difficulty finding the means.
Yet she has Saturn in Aquarius, making 90-degree aspects to the Moon, Mercury and Venus. Saturn in Aquarius can be about a ruthless ideology, that on the surface answers one’s psychological needs.
If it wasn’t fundamentalist Islam, it would probably be something else. Eco-terrorism, white supremacism, extreme evangelicalism, take your pick.
