The story keeps running. Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, a senior figure in the Palestinian organisation Hamas, paid a visit to the Gulf state of Dubai. And while there he was murdered – apparently he was drugged and then suffocated.
As far as his killers are concerned, the general consensus seems to be that it was Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service. According to the Dubai authorities, a large number of agents were involved, using false passports from several different countries.
Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was an Aquarius, born on February 14 1960. I suppose Aquarius is a good sign to have, if you want to be a freedom fighter or a terrorist. Your decisions are likely to lead to death, misery and suffering, both for your friends and your enemies. If you worry about the human cost of what you’re doing, you’ll never get anywhere.
Going deeper into his horoscope, and Mahmoud al-Mabhouh had Venus, Mars and Saturn in Capricorn. In astrology Mars and Saturn are considered unfortunate planets, yet they both work very well in Capricorn. Mahmoud al-Mabhouh would have been down to earth and realistic, and he would have understood that life can be very unpleasant, that misery and destruction are part of the experience. And I expect that he didn’t lose too much sleep about the many threats to his own life.
Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was almost certainly an effective leader. His Venus-Mars conjunction in Capricorn would have made him charismatic. Perhaps not in any immediate sense, but those that got to know him would have quickly trusted him, and would in many cases be happy to follow his lead. A person who is gritty and battle-worn, who is not afraid of getting his hands dirty, can be very appealing.
Yet Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was capable of making mistakes and drawing the wrong conclusions. His Moon in Virgo was making an opposition aspect to Mercury in Pisces. The Moon in Virgo understands the importance of details, but Mercury in Pisces can represent false logic. Maybe there were times when he glossed over crucial information, the kind of information that could make the difference between success and failure.
At the time of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh’s death, Neptune was making a major transit to his Sun. To be more specific, he had the Sun at around twenty-five degrees Aquarius, and Neptune was in pretty much the same place. The Sun is the life force, while Neptune is the planet of confusion and deception. It’s also the planet of drugs.
I would guess that in the run-up to his January 19 death he was making mistakes, and he was unwittingly getting himself into dangerous situations. Perhaps he become careless, and he didn’t make the usual checks.
As for Mossad, it’s a Sagittarius organisation, that was founded on December 13 1949. Sagittarians like travelling, and there are certainly few limits to Mossad’s reach. This Sun in Sagittarius is making a 90-degree aspect to a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Virgo. Mars-Saturn is connected with death and Virgo is connected with attention to detail, so there’s the symbolism for going abroad and carrying out careful plans for killing people.
