Aquarian Maurice Clemmons and the Washington shootings

by Archie Dunlop on November 30, 2009

The big news is the killing of four police officers, in Washington State. Apparently they were sitting in a coffee shop, when a stranger walked in, and shot them dead. It’s news in the UK as well as the US, and it’s an event that’s worthy of astrological comment.

The chief suspect is Maurice Clemmons. In 1989 he was sentenced to ninety-five years in prison, in Arkansas, for a number of violent crimes. However in the year 2000 he was given clemency by the then governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee.

At the time of the shooting, he was facing charges of child rape.

Of course we don’t know for sure whether or not Maurice Clemmons was responsible for the shootings, but it’s still instructive to look at his horoscope.

He was born on February 6 1972, making him an Aquarius. This is a sign that isn’t noted for its violence, though it’s very independent-minded. Maurice Clemmons has his own way of looking at the world, and his own particular logic. Which perhaps brought him to the conclusion that he should seek out and kill police officers.

Looking at Maurice Clemmons’ horoscope, he has the Moon in Scorpio. The Moon represents people’s feelings, and traditionally it’s badly placed in Scorpio. He has difficulty expressing himself and animosities could build up very quickly.

We then have to think of the strengths of his horoscope. He has Mars, the planet of aggression, in Aries. And this was making a favourable, 120-degree aspect to Jupiter, the planet of exaggeration. So he became violent very quickly, and it was easy for him to apply huge amounts of force.

And perhaps it was this Mars-Jupiter aspect that enabled him to kill four policeman – in spite of the fact that they were armed and wearing body armour.

We now have the question of whether the killings could have been prevented. Well, common sense would indicate that you shouldn’t release someone who is facing child rape charges, but we’re trying to look at the problem astrologically.

The key contact in Clemmons’ horoscope is an exact, 135 degree aspect between the Sun and Pluto. One hundred and thirty-five degrees is three-eighths of the circle, and it’s a very significant angle.

People with Sun-Pluto aspects can be very intense, and they can regard the world as being a heavy place. It’s also possible that they become obsessive and paranoid.

On Sunday November 29, the day of the shooting, there was an exact Mars-Pluto 135 degree aspect. This Mars-Pluto aspect was exactly triggering Clemmons’ Sun-Pluto aspect.

If you want a technical description, here it is:

Mars, on November 30 2009, was at 17 degrees Leo, exactly 180 degrees from the position of the Sun on Clemmons’ birthday, February 6 1972, which was at 17 Aquarius. It was also 45 degrees from his birthday Pluto, at 2 Libra.

Pluto, on November 30 2009, was at around 2 Capricorn. This was 45 degrees from his birthday Sun and 90 degrees from his birthday Pluto.

In simple terms, the Mars-Pluto aspect on November 29 activated Maurice Clemmons’ Sun-Pluto aspect. Something snapped, and he killed four police officers – assuming he was indeed responsible for the crime.

The court system in Washington State should have been aware of what was going on in his horoscope, and that alone should have kept him in custody.

One final, non-astrological point. I’m still trying to work out whether or not Sarah Palin will be the Republican candidate for the presidency in 2012. This shooting makes it more likely, because if Maurice Clemmons really was the shooter, Mike Huckerbee’s chances of getting the nomination must now be close to zero – in the same way that the release of Willie Horton scuppered Michael Dukakis’ bid for the White House in 1988.
