Another astrologer told me recently that I have a window opening for a certain amount of time that could benefit my business. I am a double Aquarius with a Taurus Moon. Do you see anything like this in the Aquarius house? – WhiteOak50

When I look at people’s businesses I usually look at a number of charts.  And you haven’t given me much to work on.  Still, you’ve got both the Sun and the Ascendant in Aquarius, so you were born close to sunrise.  Generally, sunrise people are clear what they want, and they ‘are what they are’.  No pretence, no masks, no silly games.  You also aren’t someone to compromise, particularly as your Moon’s in Taurus.  In terms of business, this is a two-edged sword.  You can be very focused on your ambitions, and through sheer willpower you can get what you want.  However there’s a possibility that you’re overly stubborn, that you put plans into action without considering the realities of your external environment.  Put simply, get plenty of advice and don’t cut any corners in your market research.  And if you hear something you don’t like you mustn’t close your ears!

Yet there’s no doubt that Taurus is a great sign to have your Moon in.  It gives you a sense of grounding, and however far-fetched and idiosyncratic your plans, you understand that bills have to be paid, that businesses have to be made to work, in the real world.

As far as windows of opportunity are concerned, you haven’t provided enough information for me to know for sure what the other astrologer might be referring to.  With Aquarius rising, you either have Scorpio or Sagittarius on the Midheaven – the Midheaven, roughly speaking, being the part of the sky that was due south (or north in the Southern Hemisphere) at the time and place  of one’s birth.  The Midheaven says a lot about your career, and astrologers pay careful attention to its ruler.  If it’s Scorpio then the ruler is Mars, if Sagittarius it’s Jupiter.  If you were born in England, for example, the Midheaven would definitely be Sagittarius, but this isn’t the case for more southerly latitudes.

If the sign on your Midheaven is indeed Sagittarius, I see a very real window of opportunity for your career, that is operational on and off through most of 2008.  Having Aquarius rising, Saturn will be your ruling planet.  You might find this surprising, as some astrologers regard Uranus as being the ruler of Aquarius, but being a traditionalist I don’t regard the ‘discovered’ planets (ie Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) as having any rulerships.  In 2008 there are times when Jupiter and Saturn are making a favourable aspect, of 120 degrees.  This aspect happened at the end of January of this year, and it will happen again in the Autumn – the final date being November 21 2008.  But don’t get fixated on precise moments.  You’ve got plenty of time to take advantage of the opportunity.

So what kind of opportunity might we be talking about?  Right now Jupiter and Saturn are both in materialistic Earth signs – Jupiter’s in Capricorn, Saturn’s in Virgo.  It’s an opportunity that might on the surface seem boring and routine – but boring and routine doesn’t mean unprofitable!  And it might be connected with the times we’re living in, because in astrology Jupiter and Saturn are the two ‘rulers of time’.  People are worried about the future, they’re frantic for a sense of belonging.  And maybe in 2008 you can produce something, or offer a particular service, which provides security.  Not to mention grounding, given your Moon in Taurus.

If your Midheaven sign is Scorpio, then the Jupiter-Saturn aspect is not quite so specific to your career.  However Saturn is your ruling planet, and Jupiter is the planet of good fortune, so I’m still confident that you can use this aspect to boost your prospects.  And don’t worry if you don’t get any immediate recognition.  If you’re doing something you’re good at, and you’re giving it your best shot, you’ll be attracting loads of luck.  Then, in 2009, when Jupiter enters Aquarius, you’ll be able to reap your rewards in a major way.
